Anantasana Das
Art
Asana (Anantasana Das) is a yogi and artist from Coldstream, BC, on the unceeded ancestral territories of the Syilx peoples, who has spent much of his life travelling and presenting art in many modalities. Having spent four years working in the film industry in Vancouver and presenting artwork and music at various festivals and gatherings over many more years. Asana has recently returned home for a while to obtain his B.F.A. degree in Visual Arts at The University of British Columbia and has just finished the second year of his degree.
Over the years, Asana has explored everything from drawing and painting, live painting,
jewellery design and fabrication, geometric design and symbolic patterning, sound design,
foley, electronic music production and performance to installation and sculpture works. These interests all sustain their inspiration within Asana's current practice, which includes a range of two-dimensional mixed media, painting, printmaking, and sculpting.
Whichever medium or shape Asana’s work might take, he is consistently driven to make artwork that discusses peace, harmony, balance, and expressions from the natural world, which exemplify such things. Often exploring the journey of self-discovery and spirituality, Asana aims to bring to the surface concepts that can be found throughout nature and are universal in their application. With his art practice, Asana hopes to offer a perspective of interconnectedness and reflections on the inward journey.
