Yoga & Movement
Mayca Lucero Rodríguez Cervantes, originally from Oaxaca, Mexico, studied high school dance at CEDART “Miguel Cabrera” and earned a contemporary dance degree from Universidad Veracruzana in 2011. She did a residency at Folkwang University of the Arts in Germany (2009-10) and worked with a contemporary scenic art company (4x4) (2012-13).
In 2014, she moved to the Oaxaca coast, engaging in community dance projects, teaching at CEIBA Yoo Nayie, and training as a Waldorf teacher. She was a class teacher at the CEIBA school, worked with Cuicahuitzi – Home school, and was part of Calpulli Huitztlampa in which she is dedicated to the Toltec-Chichimeca dance as well as the ceremonies and temazcals of the Mexica tradition. In 2018, she moved to British Columbia, Canada, started working in agriculture, became a mother in 2021, and is a co-founder of the 7 sisters woman’s circle. Since 2022 she has been sharing her song medicine with the community through the Medicine song circle that she runs with Heidi Rasmeusen. She now runs a daycare, Las Semillas del Amor, and is a facilitator of conscious and Mexica dance, as well as a practitioner of Yoga, contact dance, Latin dances, and Aguahara.
