Workshop, Yoga & Movement

Having had a love for music and movement from an early age, it’s no wonder that dance has become an integral part of my life.  The world of dance has created countless opportunities for personal growth, and the more I lean into it, the juicier it gets.  Throughout my journey I’ve been introduced to many different styles of movement, from Ecstatic Dance to Contact Improv, Kizomba, Urban Kiz, Tarraxo, Tango, Nia, and Fusion. Drawing from these pools of knowledge, my goal is to create a safe space where everyone can dive a little deeper into connection, as we allow the dance of life to unfold.

Workshop1

Kizomba/Fusion: Listening in Partner Dance

This will be a Fusion Partner Dance workshop that is based in Kizomba.  The intention of this workshop is to focus on listening, and the role it plays in partner dance.  We will explore exercises that invite us to listen with our bodies and be present in connection.  Practice leading through listening and creating a safe space where both partners can feel seen and heard while moving together. *No partner or previous dance experience necessary.

Workshop 2

Kizomba/Douceur:  Slowing into Softness

Douceur is a style of partner dance that falls under the Kizomba/Urban Kiz Umbrella, and translates to “softness” or “care”.  Here we will be slowing down and using micro movements to deep dive into presence and connection with our partners.  Playing with how can we create softness in our dance, and embody emotions we hear in the music.

*No partner or previous dance experience necessary.
